“We Are Displaced” by Malala Yousafzai | Book Promotion

Because of violence or persecution, 70.8 million people are currently unable to return to their homes. More than half of all refugees are children. In Malala Yousafzai’s 2019 book, "We Are Displaced: My Journey and Stories from Refugee Girls Around the World," she introduces the girls behind the numbers. They share their stories of struggle, triumph and hope. Proceeds from sales of the book went toward Malala Fund’s work to see every girl in school.

I worked on planning and executing all U.S. and U.K book promotion efforts, in partnership with the publishing team at Little, Brown and Company.

Two years later…

Malala celebrated the U.K paperback publication of her book with a free online event that featured her in conversation with some of the young women who shared their stories in the book. This included UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Muzoon Almellehan, Marie Claire Kaberamanzi and Zaynab Abdi. They spoke about their lives now, what it means to be a migrant in today’s world and what gives them hope for the future.
