Hi, I’m McKinley — a communications consultant with a decade of experience in PR, brand strategy and content development. My career has focused on social impact and, as a result, I have worked with leading activists, creatives and nonprofits from around the world. I now leverage my expertise to help mission-driven brands grow, showcase their work and build a better future.

Most recently, I led media efforts for Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and her nonprofit as the Director of Public Relations. I began at Malala Fund nine years ago and my role grew over time. As an early hire, I played a key part in the organization’s journey from a small startup to a trusted nonprofit with an established record of impact. In my tenure there, I oversaw countless media moments and staffed high-profile engagements. These included major speeches, meetings with world leaders and fundraising activations with celebrities. I co-produced award-winning editorial and digital content about women and girls. And I messaged about complex issues in ways that engaged global audiences and advanced social movements. My work has earned coverage in top publications: AP, BBC, CNN, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Financial Times, People Magazine, Variety, and more. It has also won awards, including two Webbys and a Telly.

To build on this work, I seek out opportunities to learn from and support other young women and social justice organizations. I serve on the advisory board of the Hollywood Climate Summit, a nonprofit working to get the entertainment industry to take climate action. I am also a member of two media professional groups: The Impact Guild and Mixing Board.

I have a B.A. in communications and women’s studies from The George Washington University. I am a proud second-generation, Cuban-Mexican American and retired Division I softball player. I love to chat about all things pop culture, shop for vintage home goods and spend time with my sweet labrador retriever.
